Senior Care Assistant for Dom Care
Location: London
Reports to: The Registered Manager
Wage: £11.90 - £12.45 / hour depending on experience
ABOUT THE COMPANY
Our client is a Domiciliary care provider based in Hampshire, and they currently have an exciting immediate opportunity for the position of Health Care Assistants.
This service specialises in Adult Care; in consultation with local authorities our client focuses in providing care, support and assistance to people with complex care needs and mental health challenges aiming to help them live a better and independent life both at homes and in their local communities.
They are currently looking to recruit skilled, experienced, motivated, compassionate, caring and dedicated Senior Care Assistants to join an already established team. They offer a competitive salary, career and training development and fantastic working conditions.
Key Responsibilities
The post holder will:
- Instruct, support, mentor and act as a role model for new and existing Carer, with an emphasis on leading carers to deliver care that respects and promotes service users’ needs and values.
- Be a champion in one specific area, such as Dementia, infection control, Health and Safety, moving and handling, PEG Management, etc.
- Provide person-centered care to service users as assigned on the rota.
- Record all care, support and treatment, issues, interventions, etc.
- Provide covers in lines where carers are absent.
- Manage medications; administer prescribed medicines and maintain the appropriate records in line with the Company’s policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Manage communications with GP, SW, Pharmacy, NOK
- Actively participate in the social care role to encourage the physical and mental stimulation of the residents who are unable to take an active part in the activities programme within the home.
- Monitor documentation relating to the delivery of care and ensure that documentation is completed accurately and timely and in accordance with company standards.
- Be a self-directed team player, able to motivate a team with confidence and have excellent communication skills.
- Support the effective resolution of team conflicts.
- Support the orientation and induction of all new Carers ensuring documentations are in place such as DBS, BRP, etc.
- Participate in the formal audit process, and care reviews at the request of the Registered to enhance care skills.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure that all our service users have an individualized person-centered care plan on the system.
- Review service users Care Plans and risk assessments with the involvement of the service user on a monthly basis or more frequently as and when required, in line with the Company’s policies and procedures.
- Participate in the evaluation and review of service users care plans and risk assessment.
- Develop appropriate skills to complete the NVQ assessor’s qualification and thereafter undertake the assessor’s role.
- Maintain confidentiality of information regarding service users and other carers / employees.
- Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with service user’s personal and financial affairs and avoid abuse of the privileged relationship that exists with them.
- Promote the mental and physical activity of service users through talking to them, taking them out, and sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations.
- And all other duties required for the smooth running of the business
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Excellent computer and database skills.
- Ability to lead, mentor and inspire a team.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Previous experience of working to deadlines and meeting and exceeding of KPI’s.
- An understanding of CQC quality requirements and care standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients, families, and staff.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Willing to take a risk by trying new ideas or approaches to improve the service to clients.
- Willing and motivated to learn to develop self and others.
- Good organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Experienced in working within a framework of safeguarding.
- Excellent working knowledge of equality, diversity and inclusion.
Qualification
- Experience working in a care environment, preferrable within Dom Care
- NVQ / Diploma level 2
- A caregiving certificate that covers the 15-care standards or a Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate (CNA).
- IELTS UKVI test result with a minimum score of 4 in all categories
- A valid police clearance from the countries you’ve resided within the last 10 years
- Evidence of further personal development
- Literate and numerate
- A demonstrated ability to undertake organizational and office management tasks.

- A full UK Driving License with own car is preferred
